frequently asked questions

  • What seperates MOON products from other natural skincare products?
I am committed to clean, healthy products. Because of my background as a cancer survivor and nurse, I don’t compromise my standards when it comes to ingredients. My products are made with organic ingredients, they are safer and healthier, and are derived from trusted, reliable sources. I try to go to the original supplier when I can (for example, the almond oil I use is straight from Indian bottlers) and I always seek out fair trade companies. I never use any artificial fragrances or dyes, so every beautiful scent is from essential oils, not from a lab.
  • What is the shelf life of MOON products and what is the best way to store them?
Because MOON products are natural and contain only natural preservatives, they do have a “best by” date which can be found on the bottom of the products. These dates can range from 6 months to 1 year and if there is no date, it will last at least a year. MOON products are best stored in cool, dry locations unless the product is supposed to be used in the shower. Products that are in closed pump bottles will last longer than those that you touch with your hands to dispense.
  • Do MOON products contain any animal products?
The only animal-based product I use beeswax. It is in Love Your Lips and MOON Deodorant.
  • Do you test on animals?
MOON never tests on animals and never will.
  • Do you offer a wholesale discount for bulk orders?
I offer wholesale pricing for retail customers. For private consumers, please contact me and I can offer a discount based on the product and quantity.
  • Are MOON products safe to use during pregnancy?
With any skincare product, especially ones that contains essential oils, I always suggest getting your doctor's approval before use.
  • Are the products safe to use on children?
As a clinical aromatherapist, I am very cautious about putting essential oils on children’s skin. Their skin is different from adult skin, and they absorb things at a much faster rate. For this reason, I would not recommend using MOON products on children under 45 pounds. If you have any questions about the safety of using essential oils on kids, I strongly urge you to access science-based resources for that information, and not rely on heresay and anecdotes. The Franklin Institute of Wellness is where I obtained my 18 month clinical certification on essential oils. This is the only place in the US (as of currently writing this) that the formal British method of clincial use is taught. They also conduct their own research. Please visit their website..... https://franklinhealth.org/
  • Are MOON products non-comedogenic?
While no formal testing has been conducted, as a licensed esthetician, I can say that the MOON products that are designed for the face are all safe to use without the worry of clogging pores.
  • Are MOON products hypoallergenic?
Allergy and sensitivity are two different things. You can be sensitive to an ingredient without being allergic. None of the ingredients I use in any MOON product should cause skin issues. However, since everyone’s skin is different, you should always do a test patch to make sure no reactions occur
  • Do you offer samples?
You can request samples on your order form in the “notes” section of the check out page. Please note that not all products have sampling ability.
  • When can I expect to receive my order?
Orders are processed within 48 hours unless notified, and customers should expect to receive within 7-10 days. You will receive a USPS tracking email where you can follow your package right to your door! Please understand that in this strange time, USPS services are not always reliable. I will do my very best to give you the best expereience possible. if you ever have any questions about your package, please contact me.
  • What is your return policy?
I understand that sometimes products just don’t work out for you. That’s why I offer a 100% money back guarantee on everything I create. If you are not happy for any reason, please contact me and we will find a way together to make you happy with your MOON experience.
  • How do I ship a gift?
I love shipping gifts and it's a very easy process. On check out, you'll be asked for a billing address and a shipping address. Put your name in the billing address (it should match the credit card or Paypal account) and put the person recieving the gift in the shipping address. If you would like the package gift wrapped, please indicate that in the "notes" section on your check out page. I can also include a card for any occassion. Just let me know what the occassion is and what you would like on the card and I will print it exaclty for you. If you would like a picture texted of the gift before I send it I can also do that when indicated on the notes, or if you send me an email susan@moonorganics.com
  • What is an esthetician and why should I see one?
Your skin is the largest organ in (or ON) your body and performs many functions. It offers the first line of defense against microorganisms and other microscopic invaders as well as regulates temperature, detoxes the blood, and many others. A skin therapist (esthetician) specializes in treating skin with products and modalities to make sure it is as healthy as possible, and focuses on your personal skincare issues. The skin that covers your face, neck and decollete (chest area) is structurally different from the rest of your body and should be treated with specific products. Using products that are appropriate for your skin type and condition is vital to maintaining glowing skin and a radiant complexion. Sometimes that requires a visit every one or two weeks. Once you have found the proper treatments, and are 100% happy with the look, feel and glow of your skin, I recommend seeing me once every 1-2 months for maintenance. Those with acne require a more strict skincare regimen in the beginning, but once clear skin is achieved, seasonal facials are sufficient.
  • Why does a facial cost as much as a massage?
Just like a massage, a facial takes about 60-90 minutes to perform. However, the number of products used and the modalities used are different on every person depending on the skin type and how they are presenting on that day. For a basic facial, the steps involved are: - Cleanse - Analyze - Second cleanse - Exfoliate (either with scrubs or chemicals) - Massage - Mask - Tone - Moisturize - SPF - Finisher (if needed) With each step, the esthetician must read the face, know what product to use, decide if any modalities are needed (like ultrasonic or high frequency) and determine what works best together to get the desired results. Sometimes this changes along the way. With my clients, they never get the same facial twice because their skin is always presenting differently. There is also the cost of pads or sponges to cleanse, multiple products used during the service, the disinfectant solution, and instruments.
  • How do I choose the facial that’s right for me?
The best way to start is with the basic facial. This way, I can see what your skin looks like, we can talk about your issues, and see how your skin responds to different treatments. If you are looking for something specific, please feel free to call me as there is no charge for an initial phone consultation.
  • I have a big event coming up. When is the best time for me to get a facial?
That all depends on what you are looking to do. If your skin has a very uneven skin tone with dark spots, it might take 6-8 weeks to get the even skin tone you desire. If you just want a fresh, radiant, dewy look, you can get the facial the same week. Please contact me so we can talk about what is appropriate so there will be no unrealistic expectations and you will be very happy with your results.
  • How quickly can I expect to see results from a facial?
You can see hydration, glow, and diminished fine lines the same day. If you have a lot of comedones (esthetician talk for pimples) your skin should look a lot clearer and less aggravated. If you are looking for more long term results, like increased collagen, faded dark spots, or clear skin from acne, it will take longer.
  • How often do I need a facial?
That all depends on what you are trying to achieve. Sometimes once a week is needed to treat things like acne, severe wrinkles, rosacea, or severe dryness. Once we’ve decided on a plan, and achieve the look you want, you can come back to see me every 1-2 months for maintenance.
  • How should I prepare for my facial?
I will send you a detailed questionnaire to fill out. This will give me a better look at where you are, what products you are using, and what your lifestyle is like. From there we can make adjustments during your visit depending on what I see and how your skin responds. Come well hydrated. It is not necessary to remove makeup as I will do that. I may ask you to take out your contact lenses and remove jewelry for certain treatments.
  • What steps should I take following my facial?
Following your initial facial, you will go home with some homework. Don’t worry, there won’t be a test, but you will be asked to add or change up specific products or routines to get better results. I may ask you to change some lifestyle habits and try to do things differently. This is all part of getting used to a healthy routine and one that will get you the skin you deserve not just this week, but over the long term.
